SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the OEC Executive Director, the Teacher on Special Assignment will oversee out of district services for students with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage caseload of students identified for Jon Peterson Special Needs/Autism Scholarship
Write Individualized Education Plans (IEP) as directed
Establish a system to track all scholarship students to ensure timely completion of evaluations and IEPs.
Participate in meetings
Communicate effectively with families and other district staff
Responsible for the implementation of services and monitoring of School Psychologists and related service staff (Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, Audiologist, and Interpreter) for evaluations and meetings
Comply with all Federal mandates as they apply to students with disabilities
Assist with out-of-district placements
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist license
Knowledge of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and or child/development principles
Ability and willingness to utilize technology in the enhancement of student learning
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a classroom or office setting
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
Work may be subject to frequent interruptions
Some assignments are subject to completion within strict timelines
Periodic travel for meetings, professional development activities, and work assignments
