The Role.
The Miami Valley School is seeking a Lower School Teaching Assistant (First Grade) committed to developing critical and creative thinkers who collaborate and communicate effectively.
This new faculty member will be joining a team that strives to represent the diversity of the MVS community by creating and implementing culturally inclusive and responsive curricula as well as demonstrating a teaching proficiency and comfort with a variety of different teaching and learning styles.
The assistant teacher must be passionate and skillful, eager to invest their talents in our lower school program.
They must establish a supportive and engaging environment for lower school students, work collaboratively with colleagues and parents, have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a desire to embrace the Immersion Method.

Your colleagues are artists, researchers, entrepreneurs, published authors, professional musicians, armed services veterans, and thespians.

And, of course, you will get to Teach! In this position you will be an assistant in a classroom with first grade students.
Expectations: Demonstrate a commitment to culturally inclusive curricula and inclusive classroom practicesDemonstrate a lifelong appreciation for healthy and creative decision-making in their studentsBuild collaborative partnership with students, parents, and colleaguesDemonstrate an ability to develop rapport with studentsCommit to lifelong learning through engagement in ongoing professional developmentPrimary Responsibilities: Assist a teacher in the lower schoolAssist during the Lower School Immersion Term in JanuaryFulfill all other faculty responsibilities that may occur outside the school day, including giving input to the semester progress reports and planning, attending school-related functions, which include but are not limited to: Parent Information Night (PIN), Parent-Teacher Conferences, Promotion Ceremonies, GraduationPerform other duties as assigned.
