Sinclair Community Colleges is a comprehensive community college with an enrollment of over 25,000 students that offers career and transfer programs leading to an associate degree, certificate programs, and continuing education opportunities.
The Computer Science & Information Technology Department announces a part-time adjunct faculty position.
Principal Accountabilities Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning Prepare, distribute and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning Maintain accurate records of student progress Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines Maintain confidentiality of student information Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester Requirements Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a related area required OR significant and relevant work experience in an Computer Science or Software Development role can be considered in lieu of a degree in a preferred discipline.
Candidates without a master’s degree will be required to obtain one within a specified time Minimum of 5 years of related work experience required Successful prior teaching experience required, at the community college or university level preferred.
Experience in a technical or instructional position related to Computer Science, Software Development, and Web Development preferred Evidence of successful prior teaching experience required Experience teaching in a community college preferred Skills in computer programming with a variety of languages, database design and development, and application development Active business and industry engagement in the region served by Sinclair Community College preferred Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community required Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based classroom & laboratory instruction required A demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level, including ability to teach in a student-centered active learning model required.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate teaching methods and strategies via a 10–15-minute presentation during the interview process.
