The department administers an interdisciplinary curriculum comprised of coursework in dietetics, nutrition, nursing, health science, sport management and health and wellness.
In addition to challenging courses and a variety of research opportunities, the Health and Sport Science Department offers numerous internship and experiential learning opportunities.
The department maintains a very large network of internships throughout the Greater Dayton area, as well as nationally, covering all aspects of the dietetics, nursing, health science and sport and wellness fields.
Undergraduate students can choose between five majors: dietetics, nursing, health science, health and wellness, and sport management.
In addition, students can choose the following health science concentrations: integrative physiology, exercise and movement science, or occupational and behavioral studies.
As well as health and wellness concentrations in: health and fitness or community health.
The department also supports a masters degree program in dietetics and nutrition (MDN).

The Position The successful chair will have the opportunity to expand curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students by engaging students and faculty as well as fostering and sustaining partnerships across the University and in the broader community.
The successful chair will have additional opportunities to engage in and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in dietetics and nutrition related research and assist with accreditation activities.
The chair is responsible for all administrative, curricular, co-curricular and budgetary facets of a large undergraduate and graduate department (~700 undergraduate and 24 graduate students as well as 18 full time faculty and staff).
The position is on a 12-month contract and reports to the Dean of the School of Education and Health Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in dietetics or nutrition or related health science field Successful experience or record of: Peer reviewed scholarship and research in areas of dietetics, nutrition and/or health sciences.

Preferred Qualifications: While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following: Registered Dietitian Research and teaching areas that contribute to dietetics, nutrition, and health sciences Expressed appreciation of the Catholic and Marianist mission of the University Experience managing program assessment and/or accreditation in accredited programs (i.
