CFO/Controller has overall responsibility of financial reporting and related functions associated with all financial transactions of the company.
This position includes construction accounting activities and requires a strong understanding of financial reporting.
The accounting manager must possess an appropriate level of knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software as well as systems including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and have the ability to post journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and manage statistical reporting.
The company is a fast growing, multi-state construction and remediation contractor.
This position requires communication skills and the ability to research and verify details related to all facets of Contract Control, and Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Supervision of one or more accounting department employees is also required.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
* Oversee construction project invoicing and managing flow of information from job site, to billing, and ultimately timely collection of amounts due.
Oversee accounts receivable collections.
* Oversee all banking transactions, collections of accounts receivable and disbursements of accounts payable.
Manage cash flows.
* Manage and perform accounts payable, including daily review of credit card activity and processing of invoices and payments.
Oversee and approve Accounts Payable transactions with appropriate documentation and verification of amounts due contractors and vendors.
Oversee all expenses are properly recorded and paid timely.
* Perform monthly close activities including bank account reconciliations
* Oversee and/or prepare bi-weekly payroll processing through payroll service company.
Oversee employee employment and personal information as necessary, both internally and with payroll service company.
Oversee employee withholding amounts and other payroll items for insurance deductions, courtesy withholdings, retirement plan deductions, etc.
* Oversee on-boarding of new employees into payroll system.
Oversee HR files and maintain proper employee forms and compliance with various IRS and labor rules and regulations.
* Prepare annual Form 1099’s
* Oversee the maintenance of customer and vendor profiles in all relevant systems
* Act as liaison and representative between the Company and outside vendors and clients in response to AR, AP and any other accounting issues.
* Process quarterly Commercial Activity Tax payments
* Provide timely and appropriate information as requested by other associates and managers.
* Foster teamwork within the accounting department and the company as a whole.
Qualifications
* Associate degree in Accounting
* 5 years of experience in Payroll Administration, Billing and Accounts Payable, and Reporting
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Technical aptitude in QuickBooks or similar accounting software
* Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and the creation of spreadsheets, pivot tables, functions, etc.
* Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment while balancing multiple priorities
